Bob Dylan, when speaking of leaving Hibbing, MN and traveling to NYC said, "I was born very far from where I'm supposed to be, and so I'm on my way home."
(from Martin Scorcese's excellent documentary "No Direction Home")
I love that, Danny. I am very curious about the others who make the return leg. One of my favorite current documentarians, Elaine McMillion Sheldon, who has a great Substack called Between Frames, just moved back to a small town in West Virginia after spending time as a professor in Knoxville (returning to her roots).
I write a lot about people leaving and then wishing to go back, perhaps because of the history of immigration in my family. Have you read this one about my grandfather and Lionel Messi? You may enjoy it.
